How I got 30,000 Instagram likes for 1 photo in one night.

It was the week before my son River was born.

I was on assignment to shoot the Tim Hortons activation in “Jurassic Park”, the area in front of the ScotiaBank Arena.

The Raptors just won a big game (semi-finals). It was a buzzer beater.

Everyone was out. This bus was in front of the Fairmont Royal York Hotel on Front Street. Couldn't budge. Some proceeded to roof the bus. #RideTheRocket

I was shooting with my Nikon Z6, and immediately sent it via bluetooth to my iPhone.

I posted this shot on Instagram as soon as it happened, tagged BlogTO and CuriocityTO.

They both re-posted the shot! And when I woke up the next day, I had 30,000+ likes!

Here’s my edited version, next to the screen shots of the posts from the two publications.

Fun fact: Reuters actually reached out via Instagram that same night asking to use the photo. I thought it was a scammer and said no. Oh well! Next time.
